Child & Teen Headshot Photographer Orlando FL

Our headshots for teens, kids, and children are designed to POP! We want to make a strong impact on agencies and casting directors so your teen or child actor immediately stands out.

Read on to discover the ways that Eldeen Annette Headshots helps your child stand out through professional lighting, studio settings, outdoor headshot concepts, and modern posing - designed to get your teen actor immediately noticed!

Let’s talk a bit about what makes acting headshots for kids unique, and what we will do during our headshot session to make your images stand out! First things first, though - let’s ask a basic, but super important question:

Why is it so important to have your child acting headshots done by a professional?

Your teen or child’s acting headshot has a direct impact on how a casting director will determine whether or not they would like your audition tape. If you submit a headshot that is obviously not taken professionally, then casting directors are not likely to take you seriously.

Having your headshots done by a pro who specializes in headshots for actors, whether film or theater, is vital to your potential success as an actor.

Not only does your headshot highlight your best features and character, your child or teen’s headshot quality will help directors know that you take your career and talent seriously. And in Orlando, that is a very important piece to your portrait.

We have loads of amazing talent here in central Florida! Making this investment is incredibly rewarding and will pay you back many times over the course of your career.

How do you create teen actor headshots that look natural, but still pop?

Excellent question. The Florida market requires that your teen or child’s acting headshots appear natural, are true-to-color, and represent your teen actor very well - but your images still have to pop off the page.

Let’s talk about how we do this!

To capture headshots that really stand out for young kids and teenagers in Florida, we have to capture an all-natural, commercial youthfulness in a way that immediately draws in the viewer (and leaves them wanting to know more).

There are a few important things a headshot photographer needs to know in order to capture headshots that pop. These elements, when you put them all together, create a winning recipe for excellent headshots that work.

Excellent Headshot Lighting

Photography lighting for acting headshots is different than it would be for families, corporate headshots, and even models.

It’s incredibly important to see things like the sweetness of freckles, the unique qualities of your teen’s eye color, and skin tone and hair color accurately.. all while being well-lit, but not flat in appearance.

I use modern, proprietary lighting techniques that were influenced by private acting coaches here in Central Florida, who know the market intimately, and from two of my mentors in Los Angeles.

These original techniques are specifically designed to highlight your child’s best features and help them appear youthful and captivating.

I also utilize a unique space in my home studio that allows for fully natural light portraits. Acting Headshots taken with natural light is not as simple as just heading outside, though. There are a lot of factors that are considered to create consistent, effective lighting for acting headshots.

When natural light is intentionally crafted using well-placed reflectors and light modifiers, it can provide a stunning and effective headshot. These images are incredibly natural, youthful, and have a beautiful glow that captures attention and softens skin.

Sometimes, I even combine natural light with studio lighting depending on our goals to create a bit of kick/edge. Each look will have slightly different lighting so that your portfolio has a wide variety of representation and can be beneficial to each audition.

The Right Choice in Headshot Environment and Backdrop for Your Teen.

In order to create actor headshots that are youthful, natural, and friendly for your teen, we need to pick backgrounds that communicate those important qualities, but that are not too busy or distracting.

I have a wide variety of simple-but-effective backdrops so that we can be intentional about telling a story with each look. The focus must immediately go to your child’s eyes, smile, personality, and features, which is why backdrops shouldn’t be too loud or busy, but they do help tell the story of your young actor and what they have to offer!

There are three types of backgrounds that tend to work best for teen actors who are often in film and theater, and need each look to be very different:

  • Flat Studio Background

  • Textured Studio Background

  • Simple Outdoor Background (neutral)

There is a wonderful variety of neutral outdoor backdrops here that photograph beautifully for actors. Simple, soft textures and neutral colors make our outdoor options the perfect choice for certain looks. Normally, we bring the studio lighting outdoors to create perfect lighting even when we’re outside.

Whether your headshot session requires an in-studio or an outdoor natural background, our goal is to focus on creating headshots that help your child or teenage actor stand out.

Expressions and Posing Designed For Younger Actors to Stand Out

Posing and Expression for young actors are vital to being seen in the film industry. For young actors, poses need to be youthful and approachable, simple, but not too “high school portrait.” Expressions need to be dynamic and showcase range.

I will guide your child actor through a series of poses and expression that will not only allow you and your agency lots of options for each look, but will captivate casting directors and help your teen actor stand out.

These expressions and poses have been tailored by acting coaches in Florida, which we implement here in the studio. Our collective goal is to help your teenager get their foot in the door so they can start achieving their dreams!

Your Teenage Actor’s Outfit Choices Matter

Picking outfit ideas for each look isn’t as simple as going through your teen’s closet and bringing clothing that just looks cute. Your outfit choices matter greatly and can make or break your teen’s acting headshot session.

There are rules to follow, and a few rules you can bend for acting headshots for film and theater actors. Each look will communicate something very specific about your child as an actor, so I will help guide you using rules that acting coaches in the Orlando area have provided.

After you book your acting headshots, I will send you a link where you can read what to bring, what not to bring, colors to avoid, and colors/fabrics that casting directors love to see.

Each look’s outfit will vary so we are showcasing your teen’s range of skills and so that casting directors can easily envision your child in the role.

FAQ

  • You will receive 2 final, edited headshots with each look for your child with 30 images to choose from.

Want more than two images per look? There is an easy, affordable way to order more headshots after you see the full set if you would like to! Each extra image is just $25.

  • Actors who are referred by coaches or agencies that I partner with receive a special rate for headshots. Ask your coach or agency if they are interested in partnering with Eldeen Annette Headshots!

I do not offer discounts outside of these partnerships, however, I have been known to come up with something special for those who “bring a friend” and do back-to-back sessions. Call for details.

  • My home studio is in west Orlando, Florida, near Universal Studios. Exact address will be provided upon booking.

  • Sessions typically book out 2-3 weeks in advance. Need something sooner for an upcoming audition? Call to get on the wait list, or, if you can schedule your session in the morning, we can likely fit you in sooner!

  • Not long at all! You will receive your headshots link on the same day as your session! Then, once you have chosen your favorites for editing, there is just a 24-48 hour turnaround.

  • I can! I have worked with acting coaches and talent agencies in the Florida market to come up with a list of rules and suggestions that you can read through when deciding what to wear for your child acting headshots.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, though! I always recommend asking your coach or agency what outfits you should bring for your teen actor, as each child has unique needs.

  • Possibly. If your teen actor is a young man, professional hair and makeup is not normally needed. The exception may be if your teen has acne, or if he needs help with his hair styling.

For girls, hair and makeup should be tailored, but natural. If your daughter or student is not confident doing hair and makeup, we provide a stylist who knows how to work with actors to provide naturally perfect styling for $200.
