Professional Headshot Lighting - Even For Outdoor Headshots.
Even though there is beautiful natural light outside in Orlando with our sunny setting, your photos can’t look truly professional unless we add some type of professional lighting as well. Sometimes, we may just use a very well-placed set of reflectors for a more natural look, and other times, I bring 2-3 lights that we will add to the sunlight so that you look highly professional.
If we don’t craft the lighting - even when outdoors - your face can appear dark, poorly lit, and your eyes would appear lifeless —- NOT a good look for a professional headshot :)
We aim for eyes that sparkle, flattering lighting, and a balanced exposure so your audience’s eyes go right to your face and expression.
Choosing the correct camera lens.
One of a photographer’s biggest strategies is to create depth in the background of a headshot, which is done using the correct lenses and camera settings.
Sometimes, you may need a professional portrait where the background is in focus, such as for Realtors who want the viewer to see the home! Or you may need your background to be slightly out of focus, so that we just give a “hint” of our setting, but you can still tell what it is. Other times, we may want an artistic and creamy background so that our focus goes right to the business person.
With each session, I will choose a lens that will help us tell your story and communicate your message clearly, effectively, and attractively.

Our goal with your headshots is to create a natural, accurate representation of who you — in the most attractive way!
Retouching is a piece of our final image of course. But we don’t usually prefer that you look over-edited. So, with 20 years of experience in Photoshop, I’ve learned special techniques that allow me to edit your headshot in a way that looks natural, but perfect.
When we do outdoor headshot photography especially, we want to keep the colors of our Orlando landscape natural-looking, which requires not using the typical filters that many photographers tend to rely on.
I also love creating added “pop” and "vibrance in your headshots so that your personality shines through! Your image will be crisp, professional, and naturally perfect.
Your final image (or images) will be perfected in Photoshop and provided in a few resolutions for use on many platforms.
